what to wear

wear what you're most comfortable in! i don’t ask that my clients to adhere to a color palate or dress code, but i know that it can be daunting to figure out what photographs well.

it’s often best to figure out what your child(ren) will wear first and then dress adults accordingly. i'd suggest pairing your clothing in coordinating colors that compliment your outfit- aim to coordinate, not necessarily match or mirror each other. pinterest has a lot of great ideas to help you decide the look you want for your session.

you will want to avoid strong colors like bright whites, strong reds, bold blues as well as strong patterns, and all neon colors. strong colors can reflect against your skin, which may look like you are “glowing” that color in your photos. most people don't find very flattering to their appearance.

items to bring

does your family read a favorite book together every night? is your dog a beneficiary in your will? are you more attached to your child’s stuffie than they are? do you already know what holiday card you plan to use your photos in? bring them to our session!

i can’t guarantee that we will be able to include every item in our session, but if there is a special item or two that really defines your family, i’ll do my best to get it in one of your photos.

i will have a waterproof mat for you to sit on to protect your clothes in case of damp ground.

timing + location

our session will take anywhere from 5-15 minutes. that may seem short, but i promise that will be plenty of time to capture beautiful photos of your family. if you are running late, you may be asked to wait until the next available break between sessions.

sessions will take place at garfield park, in southeast captiol hill. i try meet you near f st + 2nd st se, but will likely be in the field between 1st & 2nd st se (see map here or blue pin on the map below). we will walk around that area park for our session to take advantage of the fall foliage and avoid other people in the park as needed.

the closest parking is along f st se. it is metered parking but free for zone 6 registered vehicles.

if you bike, you may lock your bike up to the bike racks near the 2nd st intersection. the nearest metro station is capitol south (orange/blue/silver).

if we’ve never met before, be on the lookout for someone who looks something like the mom below! while building this page, i realized i don’t have any pictures of just me that aren’t also ridiculous (see cookie photo). but i will probably have those sunglasses on, a backpack (hopefully sans baby) on, and will be holding a camera.
